Rock Study

Blender Substance Painter Substance Designer Unreal Engine

I've always wanted to really learn to sculpt decent rocks for a while now, so I finally jumped out of my comfort zone, and got to sculpting.

The low poly has a tri-count of 5218. For texturing, I made a simple rock base material in Substance Designer, and then kept adding onto the layer stack using procedural noise patterns and tri-planar projection. Therefor I can apply textures quickly to any other rock models down the road.

In Unreal engine I made a custom material for the rocks making use of subtle RVT (Runtime Virtual Texture) blending, and normal blending, to have the rocks blend with the snow material more naturally, which I quickly threw together in Substance Designer.
